These Cats are the most beautiful creatures to live on the African Plains.
They are different from other cats in that their claws do not retract so they can run fast. In some texts it says that they can run up to 96 miles/hour (approximately 100kms)
Their scientific name is Acinonyx jubatus. The population of Cheetah’s had experienced a genetic bottleneck and hence are extremely inbred. There is debate about whether the declining population has to do more with genetics or demographics (that is ecological factors such as predation and competition)

PS Apparently there are wild Cheetah’s in Iran and possibly Pakistan and Afganistan. There are Asian Cheetah’s in captivity in Iran.
