Have any of you ever wondered why we have eyebrows?
Yes, this is the sort of question I ask myself.
I don’t believe there has been any definitive research into eyebrows or at least the evolution of them. Though a cursory glance of the Wikipedia article on eyebrows suggests that there are a few theories as to why they exist.
One of them is that they evolved as a defense mechanism when humans lived out on the savanna. Now it is postulated that eyebrows are good for stopping moisture from getting into our eyes. But, I guess we primarily use eyebrows as part of communication. You know, the ‘raising’ of an eyebrow to highlight amusement, or the lowering of the brow in consternation or anger.
I know, a random thought to have of a Saturday morning. But, there it is.
